Marketing Manager

Magdrive is hiring a Marketing Manager.

Location: Hybrid, Harwell Innovation Campus, Oxfordshire

Magdrive is looking for a full-time Marketing Manger to help manage and execute our company marketing communications. This is a really hands-on marketing role, which will be a mixture of strategic and a lot of executional work. You will work closely on marketing strategy with the Senior Leadership team and Operations Manager, and then be expected to take the lead and implement. You will help shape the Magdrive brand, develop our tone of voice for external communications, plan, manage marketing campaigns on our social media channels, plan events and exhibitions, write marketing copy and take on ad hoc design tasks.

Magdrive is on a mission to disrupt the current space industry with its electrical propulsion technology. The Magdrive thruster will deliver unmatched thrust and efficiency to current state-of-the art, enabling entirely new industries in satellite servicing, orbital assembly and interplanetary transport. Make no mistake, we want to revolutionise in-space travel as you know it.

Responsibilities

  • Working with key management to develop a coherent marketing plan for Magdrive based on our company roadmap and short/mid/long term objectives.

  • Help to develop a coherent brand guideline for Magdrive’s future external engagements.

  • Build Magdrive’s reputation within the space sector and beyond (and on a more general consumer-level if you can).

  • Plan out and manage the company’s event and conference calendar. Obtain speaker opportunities for the Magdrive leadership team at these events.

  • Lead social media outreach on LinkedIn and other relevant platforms.

  • Design marketing and sales materials, including posters, brochures and presentations.

  • Ownership on managing website, press releases and PR outreach

Requirements

Essential

  • 4+ years’ experience in marketing, including at least 1 year in B2B.

  • Strong organisational skills, reliability and self-motivation with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver results.

  • Experience developing marketing strategies and managing long-term social media campaigns.

  • Expertise in LinkedIn marketing and professional content creation.

  • Demonstrable design experience and proficiency in design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva).

  • Excellent English copywriting skills.

Desirable

  • Past experience working in the space industry, or a scientific industry.

  • A network of journalists/influencers within the space industry.

  • International marketing experience (Europe/USA).

  • Experience in managing exhibition and events logistics.

  • Experience in public affairs communications.

Embedded Software Engineer

Magdrive is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer

Location: Hybrid/Remote and Harwell Innovation Campus, Oxfordshire

Magdrive is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer to progress the on-board software of our thruster from prototype to flight readiness, support thruster control and operations, and to expand the features offered by this smart device. The Magdrive thruster will deliver unmatched thrust and efficiency, enabling accessibility to new orbits and new industries such as satellite servicing and orbital assembly.

As one of Magdrive’s early employees you will play a pivotal role, bringing enhanced freedom, responsibility and potential for career growth. You will work as a part of the electrical team and will work closely with the flight team, as well as the research and development team to make sure that the thruster’s software operates as reliably as possible and meets required standards. A background in spacecraft software development is paramount.

Responsibilities

  • Develop flight software to run onboard the Magdrive thrusters within a Real Time Operating System.

  • Participate in discussions of system requirements, design and code reviews.

  • Perform rigorous testing of software to planned operations to ensure robustness, fault tolerance and functionality throughout flight.

  • Develop EGSE software for use in qualification campaigns.

  • Hands on integration and troubleshooting with hardware in the loop testing.

Essential

  • Degree in software engineering, computer science, or 3 years’ professional experience in software engineering.

  • Experience developing fault tolerant or real-time software.

  • Good programming skills in C.

  • Good test design skills, including unit tests through to integrated hardware in the loop testing.

  • Experience working with embedded systems and interfacing with serial devices (UART, SPI, I2C).

Desirable

  • Experience with spacecraft operations.

  • Experience with other programming languages (C++, Python etc).

  • An awareness of electric propulsion for spacecraft.

  • Experience designing, bring-up and testing new PCBs.
